Asheboro, North Carolina  

Asheboro is a 30-minute drive from Greensboro or High Point and only 90 minutes from Raleigh, Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Chapel Hill, and Durham. The area was settled around 1740 by German families escaping wars in Europe, who were soon followed by English,, Irish and Scottish settlers. Located in Randolph County, Asheboro is easily accessible from Interstates 40 and 85 via US 220 and US 64. 

The city was named after Samuel Ashe, governor of North Carolina from 1795-1798. Mills that sprang up along the along the Deep and Uwharrie rivers began industrial development in the area. Today the area offers many manufacturing opportunities and low unemployment. 

The Asheboro and Randolph County area offers a variety of unique activities and places to visit. You can spend a day exploring the North Carolina Zoo with its exotic animals and native and tropical plants, shop for pottery at Seagrove Pottery Centers, or enjoy roaming the natural beauty of the Uwharrie National Forest.
